This week’s episode of the Gadget Lab Show is 100 percent Google. Wired Reviews editor Michael Calore and staff writer Nathan Olivarez-Giles break down the details on Google’s new $250 Chromebook, built by Samsung, and Motorola’s latest smartphone, the Droid Razr HD.
The most compelling aspect of the latest Chromebook is price. The $250 Samsung-built computer looks and performs like something much more expensive if (and this is a big if) you do all your computing in Google’s cloud services, like Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Docs. But there are other interesting features, such as an ARM processor in place of the Intel chips seen in previous Chromebooks.
Motorola’s Droid Razr HD is another impressive device, with a super-thin profile, attractive Kevlar back and 4.7-inch 720p display. But Nathan has some minor complaints with the Razr HD’s pentile display, which doesn’t measure up to the stellar displays of the HTC One X and Apple’s iPhone 4, 4S and 5.
