Ergo Electronics Announces the 10″ GoNote Touchscreen Android 4 Netbook

Ergo Electronics, a UK company, has introduced a “hybrid” device that combines tablets and laptops.  The 10″ GoNote has the form of a small laptop, but it has a touch screen like you’d find on a tablet.  (Click the image for a larger view.)  The GoNote will run Android 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich.  It’s designed for school-age children, not as a toy, but as an Office-equipped computer to help children with their schoolwork.  The GoNote will have a 1.2GHz ARM Rockchip RK2918 CPU, 1GB RAM, and 8GB internal storage; the microSD card slot lets you expand your storage with up to a 32GB card.  It measures about 9.7″ X 6.8″ X 0.95″ and weighs 2.2 pounds.  It features a resistive touch screen, QWERTY keyboard, VGA front camera, mini HDMI v1.3 port, WiFi connectivity, and a battery that lasts through 6 hours of surfing.  It comes loaded with Kingsoft Office applications for creating presentations, documents, and spreadsheets.  Other applications give you email and social networking access, and access video, photo, and audio files.  You’ll have access to the Google Play store, so you’ll be able to add games and other apps (not all available will be compatible with the GoNote).

Ergo says the GoNote will be available in the UK beginning in September for £149.99 (about $238 US).  For more details, read the press release.
