Just a day after Microsoft officially revealed Windows Phone 8, details of HTC’s Windows Phone plans have already leaked. Specifically, HTC is currently working on three Windows Phone devices, according to reports from The Verge.

Of Microsoft’s four chosen Windows Phone hardware partners — Nokia, HTC, Samsung, and Huawei — HTC is the most important handset maker after Nokia. The Taiwanese company has proven itself capable of developing high-end smartphones with its Android-powered One Series — Wired even dubbed the HTC One X “the best Android phone you can buy right now.”

From the looks of it, HTC is aiming for similar success with Windows Phone 8.

According to The Verge’s sources, HTC has plans to release two high-end devices and one entry-level handset.

The entry-level phone will be called “Rio,” and it will feature a 4-inch WVGA display, 14.4Mbps HSPA, and a 5-megapixel camera with 720p video capture. It’ll run on Qualcomm’s MSM8227 processor and have only 512MB of storage.

The two higher-end phones will be called the “Accord” and the “Zenith,” and they will have specs that resemble those in the One series. The Accord will sport a 4.3-inch 720p Super LCD 2 screen, the highest screen resolution Windows Phone 8 will support. It will also have an 8-megapixel camera, 42Mbps HSPA+, NFC support, 1GB of RAM, and a better dual-core processor than the “Rio.”

The “Zenith” touts even more impressive specs. It will have the largest screen, a 4.7-inch 720p Super LCD 2 display. The phone will also feature an 8-megapixel camera and 42Mbps HSPA+. But most importantly, it’ll run on a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon chip — a feature that currently shows up in only three Android devices (one of them being the HTC One X).

HTC declined to comment on the specifics of its Windows Phone 8 plans. But the company did release a press statement on Wednesday regarding its support for the platform.

“HTC is committed to Windows Phone more than ever and we are excited to be bringing new Windows Phone 8-enabled smartphones to customers later this year,” HTC Corporation CEO Peter Chou said in the statement.

To that end, we can expect to see these HTC phones later this year — the Rio and Accord should arrive in October when Windows Phone 8 is expected to launch, and the high-end Zenith phone will follow in the fourth quarter.
